Rules & Etiquette

Curling is a game of Sportsmanship, Courtesy, Respect and Honor

  • Do not rest your hands or knees on the ice.  This ruins the ice and ruins the game for everyone.
  •
  • Anyone entering the ice area must clean their shoes, this is not an option.
  •
  • It is no longer considered proper ettiquette to ready the other teams rock.  Only the rock to be thrown should be taken out of line and only by a member of that team.
  •
  • The winning team stands the first round of drinks,(Skips buy for Skips, Vices buy for Vices, etc.).
The losing team always stands the second round, it is very poor sportsmanship not to do so.
  •
  • Sweepers - When your team is throwing you stand inside the hog line.  When the other team is throwing you must stand outside the hog line on the edge of your sheet.
  •
  • Never stand or walk on a sheet other then the one on which you are playing.
  •
  • When your teams rock has stopped, sweepers and the thrower must move immediately to the edge of the sheet between the hog lines so as not to interfere with the other team.
  •
  • Never walk in front of the person in the hack no matter where you are on the sheet.
  •
  • Show up on time.  If you will be late or can not come at all, give your skip enough notice so that they can find a replacement.
  •
  • If you burn a rock, announce it immediately.
  •
  • Be ready when it is your turn to throw or a teammates.
